DST and timezones are evil for LDR couples. It means that one of you is gonna lose sleep, and that once you get used to that pattern, DST changes are gonna throw you off again. IMO the best option is to get a laptop and talk in bed, weird conversations ensue. We have both been pretty stressed out and haven’t had the chance to do that in weeks, but I hope that once things settle down we’ll repeat it.

It was one of those weeks again, where the only solution would be just hiding from the world. The bad news weren’t directly related to our relationship, but they affectus being physically together.
-
The only good thing that happened in these past 3 days was that our Notebook didn’t get lost in the mail and he got it. We were worried about that.
We also thank you all for reading and commenting, we smile every time we see a new comment on the site. And some have been picking up some (not so hidden) clues. We’ll tell more of our story soon (as much as we can while still being anon), as some people have been asking for how long we’ve been together and stuff like that.

Fall
I don’t like February, I never really did. If it was for me, I’d make January have 59 days (ocassionally 60). It’s always humid and rainy, and it’s a clear reminder that school will start up soon in March. Also that summer is leaving, and fall is about to start. I don’t like fall, here you don’t get to see the red and yellow trees, but gray skies and even grayer buildings. It’s such a depressing season for me. I got notice that my graduation ceremony will be on March 26th. Finally, after months of waiting on a date. But I’m bummed. I mean yes, it’s great that they’re fiiiiiinally giving me my title. But he won’t be there, all dressed up in a fancy suit, with his tie the same color as my dress, giving me a long stem rose to go with my diploma-tube. The first thing I thought after getting the call from my uni was ‘what if I bring my netbook and have Skype open’. I’m so crazy I might consider it.

In occassions, the romantic in me comes out. We had finished watching Beauty and the Beast and the credits were rolling, when I grabbed the boy and tried to dance with him. Sure, it was more clinging to him than dancing, since he’s a lot taller than me, but we just stood there hugging, occassionally moving, listening to the music. He was so red when I turned on the lights, haha.
Two more sketches from the visit left to go… The Notebook is on his way, me hoping it gets there quickly and doesn’t get lost. Sometimes snail mail can be tricky.
One thing that I hate about timezones is that I usually wake up earlier than him (even if we go to sleep at the same time. Poor boy had problems with his knee last night and was in so much pain) and I have to sit around waiting for him to be online… Or am I just making excuses to not do anything until he gets online? I could call and wake him up, but he needs his sleep. I hope you’re feeling better today, dear.

I don’t need a day…
…to remind me to tell you that I love you.
So it’s Valentines day. A day where loved ones are in each others arms and buy sexy clothes, and chocolates and roses…. But what if your loved one isn’t so close, and what if your loved one is from a country that doesn’t really do the whole Valentines thing. Well you kinda ease into it, and make plans for the day you will spend it together. I love her and it’s sad that another year goes by and I’m not with her night and day.  I don’t really need a day of the year to express my love for her. I think the boyfriends that only buy flowers on days like today are a joke. She knows I love her, and I know she loves me.  We don’t  need a day to spark that.
I drew that heart into our notebook a while ago and we have almost filled it, a lot of back and forth and she had made a scrapbook in it of my first trip to see her (we might share some it with you guys).

When you’re apart you can watch the same movie at the same time (or what we do is screen-share on Skype and watch Robot Chiken together!) but you can’t cuddle :(

Snow on the ground
It has finaly stopped snowing here, and I’m so glad I could spend the day with my girl on Skype. Being shut-in without her would have been a nightmare. I had to go outside to get something out of my car and thank goodness that VW lets you roll down the windows from the key in the door, otherwise I would have spent all day digging my car out. I put my laptop up in the window and let her see me (it doesn’t snow where she lives) run though snow up to my waist in some places. That’s right, MY WAIST!
Althrough only having her on Skype just doesn’t feel like it’s enough… I want her by my side now more than ever.

Another sketch from the Boy’s visit. He got here just in the begining of summer, so most of the days were between 90º and 100ºs.  I got really bad sunburns on my shoulders, something that never happened to me. And most of the time, we had to walk around with bottles of water or popsicles. One day we got directions wrong and walked an extra, what was it, 25 blocks? 30? Needless to say that after that we ran to get two Strawberry smoothies from the first restaurant we saw.

Solving problems while being LDR is not easy. Distance makes you second guess everything, specially when you’re having your own problems and they kind of spread over the relationship. It’s hard to keep a cool temper sometimes, specially those days when you don’t wanna talk, but talk is all you can do with the other person. Last night we stayed up until 5am trying to work out some issues, and I’d like to think we’ve done some good progress. Right now I’m watching him eating an apple on Skype, as he’s trying to eat healthier to feel better. I love it when he sets goals, as I’m the kind of person who keeps To Do lists all over the place.
